You are reading this, so I have to assume it is because you are an absolute sucker for queso. While any queso with chips is a treat for me, I am obsessed with the delicious goodness of queso blanco. I have put together a quick answer for when that craving comes knocking. You can spice this recipe up or dial it down whatever your preference. Lets walk through the recipe here, but don’t fret friend, I will have a pretty printable copy at the bottom. 🙂
Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. white American cheese, grated
- 3 Tbsp. milk
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1- 8 oz. cream cheese
- 1- 4 oz. cans chopped green chiles
- 2 Tbs. cilantro
- 1/4-1/2 Tbsp. chopped jalapenos
- 1 tsp. cumin
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. onion powder
Instructions:
- First, put cheese, butter, cream cheese, and milk into a stockpot and melt together over medium heat, stirring often.
- Next, continue heating and stirring until everything is well combined and smooth.
- Then, add green chiles, cilantro, jalapenos, and spices and mix until well incorporated.
- Transfer to a crockpot to keep warm, or serve immediately.
- Finally, serve with corn chips, warm flour tortillas, or maybe fresh vegetables.
Notes:
- For more convenience, use a crockpot. Stir it frequently early on while the cheese is melting and incorporating. Once it is melted this method requires less attention.
- “Up the heat” by adding Rotel tomatoes and/or cayenne pepper.
- You can reduce the heat by removing the jalapenos or cutting back on green chiles.
This recipe is super versatile and can be adapted to your liking. Don’t be scared, jump in and make it your own!
